Alternatives to Foreclosure

During these exceedingly difficult economic times, we understand that some of our members may be facing challenges meeting their loan obligations due to financial hardship. If your financial situation has changed recently and you are unable to make your HCCU 1st mortgage or home equity loan payments on time, we may be able to help. Assistance with your payments may be available by modifying the terms of your loan or deferring your payment before you need to consider foreclosure.

Before speaking to HCCU or another mortgage lender, research what options are available to you and consider what might work best for your situation. Gather all documentation about your mortgage loan, debts, income, and any supporting information to explain the financial hardship you have experienced or why you are unable to make your payments. Download the Financial Checklist provided by Fannie Mae. Contact your mortgage lender and explain your situation by providing as much accurate information as possible so they can access the situation and help you choose the best course of action.
